Table side guac is fabulous, and the margarita we got was well worth the $13. El Gato Negro specializes in truly authentic Mexican cuisine , fresh hand-squeezed margaritas, and excellent service. I figure the staff is missing people or something is off. Please come back and see us again soon!I have never been to Lakeview to eat or one of the El Gato Negro locations so this was a first in many ways. The lack of flavor and intensity reminded me of getting a paycheck and seeing a good portion of the funds removed due to taxes.
There are so many delicious places for tacos in New Orleans–what’s your favorite! With the amount of business they get I think they can certainly afford to expand and the parking was terrible. The food and drink menu sounded good; but once it arrived, everything was just "meh... it's ok". Our menu is inspired by old family recipes, and just like at home, all dishes are made to order with only the finest and freshest ingredients.

Seriously. Both were awesome!!! We also offer several rare beers, tequilas and other imported concoctions native to Mexico that aren’t easily found stateside. Welcome to El Gato Negro, New Orleans’ most authentic Mexican kitchen! We had to wait outside but only waited for 3-5 minutes before we were seated upstairs.
