Dunno if you would 'love' this book but after a month in Cambodia I was interested in knowing more about Pol Pot's genocidal legacy and Haing Ngor's book is an unflinching account of the killing field years. The Killing Fields of Nebraska have become an apocalyptic legend in the four years since nuclear war devastated the world. I first read this book whilst travelling through Cambodia and was also aware of the actor, having seen the film The Killing Fields.

I'm sorry that it took me so long to find this book, partially because the book is actually entitled "SURVIVING the Killing Fields: The Cambodian Odyssey of Haing S. Ngor" (and after all this time it took only a few days to read it). For 25 years, Cambodia's Khmer Rouge have avoided responsibility for their crimes against humanity.
The only disappointment I have with the book, was how it tells of Haing S. Ngor's "mishap" at the beginning. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations One person found this helpful.

Not knowing anything about Dr Haing S Ngor, I just assumed he was an actor. Several times I froze in disbelief at the torture and murderous ways described in the book, and like others, I found the book extremely hard to put down.
The book was released on April 18, 2017 by Doubleday.. Time magazine listed Killers of the Flower Moon as one of its top ten non-fiction books of 2017. Well worth it though
Moving, touching, traumatic and brutal there is a humanity that permeates even the darkest moments.

My heart goes out to all those who survived such atrocities. If you're looking to understand the reason behind the revolution of Cambodia in the 70s, then look no further. By the way, reading this will make you want to see 'The Killing Fields' again, just to see his performance one more time. The book gives an outsider a very good insight to the day to day activities behind the walls of 'The Killing Fields'.
